Suffering from Pandemic Procrastination Syndrome? A Hampton Author Shares her Advice

Hampton resident and author, Bonnar Spring admits that the pandemic put her in a tailspin. “The pandemic upheaval knocked all my routines for a loop. I began avoiding writing,” Spring says. She developed some strategies to get back on track and is going to share them with participants in a workshop she is presenting virtually as part of the annual NH Writers’ Project 603 Writers’ Conference on Saturday, October 17, 2020.

The workshop is Beating Procrastination One Step at a Time. Spring said she chose this topic because she “figured we’re all struggling to find the right mix of new patterns to organize our lives. I will be sharing what I’ve learned about procrastination and what has worked (and not worked) for me.”

Spring is hosting a second workshop at the video-conference, My Manuscript is Published. Now What?, in which she will report on her successful cross-country book tour she planned for last winter and offer participants some pointers. “I sold out my first printing in three weeks,” she says. Then along came the Covid-19 shutdown in March and she was forced to complete the tour earlier than planned. “I had to re-invent book marketing and promotion for socially-distanced times.”

Both workshops will be interactive. “Although it will be a lot more complicated on Zoom, I plan to get participants involved,” she says. She plans to offer specific, concrete information in each class. “I will not have vague language or jargon,” she promises.

Spring’s workshops are two of the 14 different master classes included in the NH Writers’ Project 603 Writers Conference. This is the first time the event has been presented virtually. In addition to the breakout sessions, the event features keynote presenter Brunonia Barry whose book, The Lace Reader, became a NYTimes best-seller; NHPR’s Peter Biello as conference moderator; two panel presentations; and the opportunity for writers to submit their pitches for their books to a panel of industry professionals for feedback.
