Writers’ Night Out is your chance to meet and mingle with other writers in a welcoming setting.
Join us for an informal gathering where you can discuss what you are working on, what you are reading, where you are submitting your work, and more.
Several locations feature special events. Regardless, the special guest is you. All NHWP Writers’ Night Out (WNO) events take place at 7:00pm (unless otherwise noted below).
Writers’ Night Out groups usually meet the first Monday of every month in locations across the state. Please check directly with the organizer listed below to confirm when and where your local group is meeting.

Concord: The Concord Writers Group meets at the Concord Public Library at 10 a.m. on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month, Sept. through May. They are a critique group, helping each member with their current writing project. They don’t use writing prompts. They are looking to add 3-4 new participants. Derry: The Derry WNO group meets at Kelsen Brewing Co. in Londonderry, NH, from 5:30 – 8:00pm (late fall to late spring) and at Zorvino Vineyard, Sandown, NH, from 5:30 – 8:00pm (late spring to early fall). Contact the Organizer: Katharine Webster to get on the mailing list, so you can get a reminder email with current information about each meeting, including the occasional weather-related cancellation.
Laconia: The Central NH WNO Group meets on the third Wednesday of the month at 6:00 pm at the Belknap Mill, 25 Beacon St E, Laconia, NH 03246. Email the Organizer: Katherine Switala Elmhurst (katherine@belknapmill.org)
Lakes Region: The Lakes Region WNO group meets at the Common Man Inn & Spa, 231 Main St., Plymouth. Exit 26 off I-93. Meets the first Monday of every month, 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Contact the Organizer: Gretchen Draper
Lebanon/Upper Valley: This WNO group meets in person at 6:00 pm on the second Tuesday of each month. Location subject to change, but unless otherwise shared via email, the group will meet at the Lebanon Public Library, 9 East Park Street, Lebanon. Manchester: The Manchester WNO group meets in on the first Monday of each month from 6:30-8:30pm at Murphy’s Taproom and Carriage House in the Cork Private Room (on the left when you walk into the dining room). Murphy’s is located at 393 State Rte. 101 in Bedford, NH. If you are interested in participating, contact the Organizer Sarah Hoffschwelle.
Nashua: This WNO group currently meets via Zoom. Contact the Organizer: Ron Stokes. This WNO will resume in September.
Northwood: The Northwood WNO meets the 2nd Thursday of every month from 5:00 – 7:00pm at Roberto’s Mexican Faire Restaurant, 758 1st NH Turnpike (Route 4) in Northwood, NH. Join for an informal gathering where you can discuss what you are working on, what you are reading, where you are submitting your work, and more. Peterborough: This WNO group meets at Brady’s American Grill, 225 Concord Street, Route 202 North. Contact the Organizers: Monadnock Writers’ Group.
Portsmouth: The Portsmouth WNO meets at Liars Bench Beer Company, 459 Islington Street. The event is open to all. Let Jeff Deck (the organizer) know if you are coming and feel free to invite any author friends. This is a laid-back event for writers of all genres and experience levels to connect with each other and share advice and wins/struggles/questions. No worries if you don’t drink. Rochester: The Rochester WNO meets the first Wednesday of the month from 6:00 – 7:30pm at the Rochester Public Library. The get-togethers are an open mic format, open to poetry, prose, and music.
