Saturday October 26, 2019, 1:30-4:30pm<\/strong><\/p>\n More books are being published than at any point in the past; and readers have instant access to an overwhelming selection of choices. Effective book covers\u2014clever, iconic, current, culturally-aware, sophisticated and memorable\u2014are more important than ever.\u00a0 The book cover signals the subject, tone, and intended audience to a potential reader, all in a few seconds or less. This workshop on book cover design will offer an overview of the practice in both traditional and self-publishing. The presentation will include:<\/p>\n Attendees are encouraged to bring a favorite book cover for a short group discussion and critique.<\/p>\n Alex Camlin is the principal of AC\/D, a design studio based in greater Boston. With 20 years of experience as an art director in publishing, his recently founded practice is limited almost exclusively to books and their covers. Clients include Grove Atlantic, Hachette Books, HarperCollins, Harvard Review, MIT Press, Penguin Random House, and Simon & Schuster.
