Different kinds of editors play distinct roles in the publishing process, and knowing what these roles are can help you hire the right kind of freelancer at the right time — or help you know what to expect when your manuscript is accepted by a publisher. In this 90-minute webinar, we’ll review the tried-and-true editing stages that successfully convert an unpublished manuscript into a published book. The webinar is designed to enable you to:
- Decide if hiring a freelance editor can help you attract an agent or publisher
- Know what to expect from editors if your manuscript is accepted for publication (and how being edited is not as scary as you might think)
- Know the stages of editing you’ll need to do (or hire a freelancer to do) if you decide to self-publish
We’ll focus on how books of fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry are edited; but the process will also hold true for publishing in literary magazines. There will be time for Q&A after the presentation. Participants will receive a PDF of the presentation slides and a list of helpful resources for writers seeking more information about editing and ways of finding the right editor for them.
