Tom Tosi, Author of Six Thousand Donuts and Winner of the 2023 New Hampshire Literary Award for Middle Grade/Young Adult literature

🤣 Confession: I love middle grade books and NH author Tom Tosi is a prolific master of the genre, with just the right balance of plot line, character development, and a happy ending that surprises.

Tom appeared on the latest episode of my special ReadLocalNH series, highlighting the winners 🎊🎊🎊 of the The New Hampshire Writers’ Project Literary Awards. Tom’s book “Six Thousand Donuts” won the Middle Grade/Young Adult category.

After 25 years as host of New Hampshire's leading public radio talk show, I've moved on: I'm writing historical fiction, moderating panel discussions, giving keynote speeches, and conducting long-form interviews that engage the head and the heart. I'd love to come talk to your group about New Hampshire, given that I had a front-row seat observing the state for a quarter-century. If you have panel discussions or forums for which you need a skilled moderator, well...I've done that a time or two (or 10,000!) I also give keynote speeches on a range of topics. Email me and let's talk! My favorite topic is the novel I've finished, tentatively titled "The Shopkeeper of Alsace". It's a family saga that spans WWI and WWII. The book is heavily based on a true story shared with me by a family I connected with three decades ago when I lived in Alsace, France. I finished the manuscript over the summer, edited it over the fall, and this winter, it's been in the hands of 5 early readers who are giving me feedback now. Once I've incorporated their wisdom, I'll find the right agent to bring this story to print. I have a series in mind, after this first novel...2 more adult novels, a YA graphic novel and a children's book. There are so many stories from this region that have not been told!
