NHWP Benefits from a Unique Funding Opportunity

Visit the Dover Poker Poker Room between November 17, 2023 and December 1, 2023 to support NHWP

In 2006, the NH State legislature enacted House Bill 1744, which allowed casinos in New Hampshire to operate with the obligation that 35% of their gross gaming revenue be donated to charity and 10% to the New Hampshire Lottery to support public education. NH is the only state whose casino industry employes a charitable gaming business model.

NHWP is participating in the charitable gaming program for the second year. From November 17 through December 1, 2023, 35% of the gross revenue at the Dover Poker Room will be donated to NHWP.

The games charities are allowed to host for fundraising vary from state to state, but some commonly permitted games include:

  • Bingo.
  • Raffles.
  • Pull-tab tickets.
  • Poker tournaments.
  • Monte Carlo game nights.
  • Casino games nights.

In total, New Hampshire casinos donated over $17.7 million from games of chance in 2022.

Non-profits are sponsored by casinos on a rotating schedule. Most casinos in New Hampshire sponsor a charity for seven to 10 days.

Participating recipients must be a legitimate 501(c)(3) organization based in New Hampshire and must have been registered with the Secretary of State’s office for at least one year.

The charities then must receive a license from the Lottery Commission to take part in their seven- or 10-day run.

Participating non-profits range from NHWP to women’s shelters to food banks, to Boys and Girls Clubs, and many more

The Dover Poker Room is located at 887B Central Avenue in Dover, NH.  NHWP would appreciate your support!
