Summer on a New Hampshire lake. A dazzling inheritance from an absent father. The wounds of war, seen and unseen. The hard work of discovering who we really are.
Joe Pace’s novel “Moss” weaves these themes together beautifully for a captivating story. Joe appeared on the latest episode of my special ReadLocalNH series, highlighting the winners of the New Hampshire Writers’ Project Literary Awards. “Moss” won the award for Fiction. 🎉

After 25 years as host of New Hampshire's leading public radio talk show, I've moved on: I'm writing historical fiction, moderating panel discussions, giving keynote speeches, and conducting long-form interviews that engage the head and the heart. I'd love to come talk to your group about New Hampshire, given that I had a front-row seat observing the state for a quarter-century. If you have panel discussions or forums for which you need a skilled moderator, well...I've done that a time or two (or 10,000!) I also give keynote speeches on a range of topics. Email me and let's talk! My favorite topic is the novel I've finished, tentatively titled "The Shopkeeper of Alsace". It's a family saga that spans WWI and WWII. The book is heavily based on a true story shared with me by a family I connected with three decades ago when I lived in Alsace, France. I finished the manuscript over the summer, edited it over the fall, and this winter, it's been in the hands of 5 early readers who are giving me feedback now. Once I've incorporated their wisdom, I'll find the right agent to bring this story to print. I have a series in mind, after this first novel...2 more adult novels, a YA graphic novel and a children's book. There are so many stories from this region that have not been told!
