Flash Fiction Workshop with James Patrick Kelly

You’ve always wanted to write stories, but maybe you’re a little bit intimidated? Or haven’t got the time? Have you considered writing Flash Fiction? A Flash Fiction story is usually about 1000 words long – that’s just a little over three typed pages.  James Patrick Kelly will conduct a free beginner’s workshop in this popular short-short form.  Using examples and exercises, Jim will show you how to build a story in just a thousand words, even if you’ve never written fiction before. October marks the kickoff of the New Hampshire Writers’ Project annual Three-Minute Fiction Slam, a statewide competition for Flash Fiction writers. With the tools you’ll get in Jim’s workshop, you too can write flash. The Three-Minute Fiction Slam needs your story!

James Patrick Kelly has won the Nebula, Hugo, and Locus awards. His fiction has been translated into eighteen languages.  His most recent books are The First Law of Thermodynamics Plus (2021), a collection in PM Press’s Outspoken Author series, King Of The Dogs, Queen Of The Cats (2020), a novella from Subterranean Press, a collection, The Promise of Space (2018), from Prime Books, and a novel, Mother Go (2017), an audiobook original from Audible.
