This Saturday: Citywide Portsmouth Literary Festival!
Fancy a trip to the Seacoast this Saturday? If you're a voracious reader, it's the perfect time to go. A bonanza of books is waiting for you by the sea.
Well, not literally by the sea. Because, you know, salt and sand do terrible things to books. But pretty close to the sea.
What am I talking about? It's the Citywide Portsmouth Literary Festival, a daylong celebration of local authors from around the Seacoast region. This event will take place at two different venues in Portsmouth simultaneously this Saturday, November 5. Authors of books for children and young adults will be at Strawbery Banke Museum from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Authors of books for adults will be at Portsmouth Public Library from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
You'll get the chance to meet a ton of authors who live and work in this community. Some of them are veteran authors bedecked with awards; others are authors just starting their careers. Some are published through major houses, others through small presses, and others independently published. What they all have in common is a passion for the written word, and a story that needs to be told.
You already eat local, shop local, and listen local. It's time to read local too.
And here's the Portsmouth Herald article previewing the event.
Below are the reading schedules for both venues:
